Dry Skin

Let's Talk about Dry Skin

It is normal to have dry skin in the winter and during times of cold weather, and while you can moisturize products for your skin regularly, it's also important to know if there are other causes behind your skin's dryness.

Dry skin conditions can cause a lot of discomforts, but generally, once the source of the problem is found, it's easy to treat. Dry skin is a problem many people have, but although this is a common occurrence, you can't just wait for the cold weather to leave your skin alone again once summer comes around. Although moisturizing may relieve some of the discomfort caused by dry skin, it doesn't provide an answer to the problem itself.

Various factors can cause dry skin, most of them coming from internal causes rather than external factors. Dry skin that is caused by environmental or weather conditions usually has to do with low humidity levels, which cause people's skin to become dry very quickly.

Treatments for dry skin

There are a few different options in the form of treatments that you can use for your dry skin.

Gently wash your face at least twice a day.

One of the best ways to take care of your dry skin is by gently washing your face at least twice a day. This will help to remove any dirt or makeup that may be clogging your pores and causing your skin to become dry. If you have access to hot water right before washing your face, you should use it because the heat will open up your pores and make it easier for them to release any dirt or sebum clogging them.

After washing your face, dry it well, and apply an oil-based cream or lotion containing natural ingredients such as almond oil and cocoa butter.

Moisturize skin regularly

Moisturizing your skin regularly is one of the best ways to take care of it, and there are a few different ways you can go about doing this. You can either use a moisturizer specifically made for your skin type or use a natural remedy like coconut oil. Coconut oil is a great way to moisturize your skin because it is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Drink plenty of fluids

It is essential to stay hydrated because, without enough water in your system, your skin may not maintain the right moisture levels. To keep dry skin at bay, drink at least eight glasses of water every day, including one glass before you go to bed, so that your skin can benefit from the water throughout the night.

Use a humidifier

If possible, try using a humidifier in your home to add some humidity back into the air. This may be enough to relieve any dryness that you are experiencing. You can also use bowls of water near or around high-use areas like your computer or reading chair and then just breathe in the moist air throughout the day.

Use allergen-free moisturizing soap.

If you have dry skin, it is essential to use a moisturizing soap that will not aggravate your condition. Look for a soap that is allergen-free and designed for dry skin. This will help to cleanse your skin without causing any additional irritation. Many people also find that using soap with oatmeal helps to relieve dry skin.
